Job summary

Cayuse Holdings in Portsmouth, VA, is seeking an Optometrist to provide full-scope primary eye care within a healthcare facility under client contracts and AOA guidelines. The role requires extensive diagnostic testing, TPAs, and refractive surgery evaluations, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure quality patient care.

Qualifications

• OD degree from accredited program.
• Active U.S. state optometry licensure.
• Three years refractive surgery experience or completion of a certified refractive surgery residency.
• Two letters of recommendation from references familiar with the candidate's clinical experience and performance (dated within the last two years).
• Completion of required medical clearances, including vaccines, TB screening and respirator fit testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide full-scope primary optometric care in accordance with AOA guidelines and community standards.
• Perform detailed patient evaluations including VA, color vision, contrast sensitivity, refraction, keratometry, lensometry, and slit lamp exams.
• Diagnose and manage visual/ocular conditions with TPAs as certified.
• Transcribe information into patient records with medical history, assessments, and follow-up plans.
• Conduct refractive surgery evaluations and analyses (topography, Pentacam, epithelial mapping, etc.).
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care.
