Job summary

Leonardo DRS in Johnstown, PA is seeking a Production Operator responsible for producing quality work to standards with a focus on continuous improvement to meet customer commitments on schedule and within budget.

Responsibilities include following work instructions, performing advanced assembly tasks, interpreting prints, and collaborating with Engineering and other departments to resolve issues while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required with a minimum of 2 years of experience.
• Candidate should be able to work with minimal supervision and follow detailed instructions.
• Demonstrates safety awareness and adherence to WHMIS and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Follow written work instructions.
• Work under minimal supervision on duties and tasks that are frequently non-routine, adapting procedures to meet special needs.
• May perform more detailed tasks requiring deeper knowledge and experience in the specified processes and procedures.
• Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned goals.
• Communicate effectively with other functional departments such as Engineering, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Quality, and Sales.
• Resolve most questions and problems, referring only the most complex issues to higher levels.
• Be a resource to others in resolving complex problems.
• Be a self-starter with good decision-making ability.
• Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to all safety procedures (WHMIS) and proper PPE usage.
• May train lower level employees.
• Perform advanced-level assembly tasks from models/drawings within Production.
• May solder and install components per contract specifications.
• Interpret blueprints and Process Flow Instructions.
• Ensure quality work aligning with SPC standard practices.
• Train across all assembly stages and collaborate with Engineering to build 1st articles.
• If required, perform in-process, final and source inspections.
