Summary:

PNL seeks an Advanced NDT Services Technician for our Tempe, AZ office. This role involves ultrasonic phased array, eddy current, guided wave, magnetic flux leakage examinations, and evaluations of tanks, pressure vessels, and piping systems. The technician reports to the Advanced NDT Services Manager.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform PAUT, Eddy Current, and API inspections following procedures, codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Assist certified technicians on projects and develop skills.
  • Understand scope and limitations of methods, and mentor trainees as qualified.
  • Coordinate with personnel to determine work scope and priorities.
  • Maintain equipment cleanliness and organization.
  • Prepare reports and organize examination results.
  • Work independently and support team efforts.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:

Ideal candidates will have a two-year associate degree in nondestructive testing or five+ years of experience with advanced NDT training. Certifications desired include:

  • NDT PAUT Level II or III UTSW
  • NDT Eddy Current Level II or III
  • NDT Guided Wave Level I or II
  • MFL 40-hour Certificate
  • API 510, 570, 653
  • Level II VT, UT, RT, MT, PT, LT

Applicants must meet minimum NDT method requirements, provide documentation, and possess knowledge of industrial environments and manufacturing processes. Effective communication skills and the ability to report issues and resolve problems are essential.

Requirements:
  • Ability to learn and adhere to company policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Pass drug screening, valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • U.S. Persons only due to export control regulations.
Work Conditions:
  • Use of safety equipment as required.
  • Work at heights, in confined spaces, around operating machinery, and with hazardous materials.
  • Extended shifts up to 12 hours/day, 7 days/week, and travel.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 100 pounds.
