Job summary

Google is seeking an Advanced Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer in Sunnyvale, CA. You will be a technical process and product development lead for Google's compute hardware, including AI solutions, enabling scalable, high-volume production.

You will apply stamping, molding, casting, extrusion, machining, and assembly knowledge to qualify new processes and suppliers, while guiding DFx, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability across global supply chains.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 5 years of experience in process or product development for electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • 3 years of process, design, or product development experience for mechanical assemblies.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a technical expert in a significant area of manufacturing engineering (e.g., tooling, automation, test, process development, DFX).
  • Define medium- and long-term technical strategy and manufacturing architecture for scalability and supply chain influence.
  • Drive initiatives to achieve cost, quality, efficiency, or capability improvements.
  • Use advanced statistical tools to guide data-driven decisions in manufacturing and design.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration to optimize designs and processes across competing priorities.

Advanced Mechanical Manufacturing Engineer

Minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial, Process, or Manufacturing Engineering, a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in process or product development for electro-mechanical assemblies for electronic systems.
  • 3 years of process, design, or product development experience for mechanical assemblies.
Preferred qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Engineering or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience with machining, stamping, assembly, die casting, injection molding, extrusion, machining, quality control, tolerance loop analysis.
  • Experience with process and production line development for high volume manufacturing across worldwide manufacturing geographies.
  • Experience with operations and supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of tool and die design, fabrication, qualification and equipment/fixture design.
  • Knowledge in mechanical part qualification, and precision measurement techniques/equipment.

The Product Infrastructure Advanced Operations Engineering Mechanical Team delivers mechanical solutions for Google Cloud, responsible for serving all of Google's functions and customers. Your expertise will shape the next generation of hardware, delivering unparalleled performance, efficiency, and scale.

As a Manufacturing Engineer for mechanical solutions, you will be a technical process and product development lead for all of Google's compute hardware, including our industry leading AI solutions, serving all of Google's internal and external Cloud customers. Using a deep understanding of manufacturing processes such as stamping, molding, casting, extrusion, machining, assembly, you will enable product design and development for next generation E/M solutions at scale. With a background in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, you will not only help guide qualification of new processes and suppliers but you will also guide teams to optimize designs, production processes, manufacturing lines, and vendors to help build better supply chains. With an understanding of design methods, tools, and requirements, you will advocate team efforts to provide DFx feedback, tolerance stack analysis, and mechanical design considerations to enable manufacturing, automation, and scalability.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $120000 - $172000 (USD) + 15% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Lead and influence across multiple teams, including Hardware Engineering, Product Design, Supply Chain, Operations, and Quality, to optimize product designs and manufacturing processes even in the competing priorities.
