Job summary

Huhtamaki, Inc. in Hammond, IN is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to diagnose and repair production machinery, conveyors, hydraulics and piping, while supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

You will read blueprints, weld as needed, and keep equipment safe and productive, contributing to sustainable packaging and workforce safety.

Qualifications

• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on production equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on machines and conveyors.
• Weld and fabricate as needed.
• Read and follow blueprints, diagrams and manuals.
• Maintain air and hydraulic piping per specs.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and solve mechanical problems as they arise.
• Repair and maintain machinery and equipment such as production machines, conveyor systems, hydraulics, power transmissions and all mechanical equipment.
• Visually inspect and perform preventative maintenance to machines and equipment.
• Perform welding tasks related to repairing equipment/machinery.
• Follow blueprints, diagrams and service manuals to repair broken parts, realign and adjust mechanical components and to dismantle machines to gain access to the problem areas.
• Work on air and hydraulic pipes on the machines by measuring, cutting, threading and installing new pipe.
• Actively supports and participates in the continuous improvement process.
• All other duties as signed by supervisor.
