An Advanced Machine Operator is a 2nd level Operator responsible for ensuring product quality by managing the entire machine operating process. Responsibilities include starting up machines, changing tooling to run different products, completing intermediate troubleshooting, performing maintenance tasks, adhering to product quality standards, and training others. This role requires active participation in a team environment to maximize production efficiencies and produce a zero-defect high-quality product. Advanced Machine Operators work hands-on with state-of-the-art equipment in a clean and professional work environment, with a strong commitment to safety.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Although not a direct Supervisor, the Advanced Machine Operator directs and assigns daily work, manages breaks/lunches, and escalates breakdowns/issues to the Senior Operator.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, a candidate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

  • Education: High school diploma or GED; one year or more prior manufacturing experience preferred; minimum of three years consecutive work experience in a Production and/or Manufacturing environment required.
  • Language: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports; present information effectively in small group situations.
  • Technology: Knowledge of SAP Integrated Business software and work order software; proficiency with Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds frequently; occasionally push/pull up to 80 pounds; perform tasks requiring stooping, crouching, or climbing.
Your Profile:

The Advanced Machine Operator serves as an engaged and trusted source in the organization. Success in this role is measured by scorecard targeted metrics. Key deliverables include:

  • Maintaining a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies.
  • Stopping processes to correct quality, safety, or environmental problems.
  • Meeting balance scorecard metric targets including safety, sustainability, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Engaging in Operational Excellence programs by submitting continuous improvement ideas.
  • Maintaining established 6S standards for the work area.
  • Completing control plan inspections and maintaining ownership of quality sorts.
  • Troubleshooting scrap and escalating issues.
  • Efficiently running and operating required equipment.
  • Completing preventative maintenance activities and advanced tooling changes.
  • Participating in training and cross-training activities.
  • Completing all required departmental documentation by the end of the shift.
