Job summary

American Packaging Corporation is hiring for machine operator roles in Cedar City, Utah. Shifts are 12 hours, with day and night options and a $3 night differential. The team performs prepress, press and finishing duties, with a comprehensive benefits package and 401(k) matching.

Location in Cedar City requires reliable commuting. Prior manufacturing experience is preferred, with strong attention to safety and quality in production environments.

Qualifications

  • Basic math, measurement, and data entry skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets up machine.
  • Observes machine operation to detect material defects or machine malfunction.
  • Measures material dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling/greasing machines and changing knives.
  • Prepares required paperwork, including daily production reports, SPC charting, roll tickets and inventory tags.
  • Completes work orders when necessary.
  • Actively participates in safety programs and makes safety observations.

WAGES STARTING AT:
  • $23.75 + PER HOUR
  • $3.00 PER HOUR NIGHT SHIFT DIFFERENTIAL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
