Job Description Summary

The Advanced Lead Design Engineer position is a mid-career 'hardware owning' engineer role reporting to an Engineering Manager within the Aerospace Engineering Division's Production Technologies team. As a hardware owner, you will oversee all engineering functions related to the production of assigned Commercial, Aero-derivative High Pressure Turbine Airfoils.

This role involves working on a new organization dedicated to improving the producibility of HPT airfoils, enhancing the Engineering-Supply chain relationship, and using SQDC to improve supply chain health and product quality to meet customer expectations.

Responsibilities include: implementing producibility design changes, providing ongoing manufacturing support, and driving strategic improvements across Castings, Machining, and Coatings for turbine airfoils.

Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Design, analyze, or evaluate projects using sound engineering principles, adhering to standards, practices, procedures, and requirements. This includes mechanical and electrical engineering aspects.
  • Own hardware projects supporting high-pressure turbine nozzle airfoils.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, manufacturing, quality, and industry experts, fostering open communication.
  • Travel to manufacturing sites at least twice a year to gain practical manufacturing knowledge.
  • Perform engineering analysis to improve manufacturability and robustness of components.
  • Challenge existing processes and methodologies to recommend improvements.
  • Apply engineering and manufacturing knowledge to execute complex projects aligning with technical and business goals, under mentorship.
  • Support repair development, manufacturability improvements, hardware delivery, and vendor qualifications.
  • Lead moderately to highly complex technical projects through collaboration with experts.
  • Mentor colleagues with less experience.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution.
  • At least 3 years of experience in Aerospace/Aviation design engineering.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; sponsorship not available.
Desired Characteristics
  • Experience in manufacturing of aerospace components.
  • Team-oriented, flexible, and friendly approach.
  • Experience with Ansys and Unigraphics.
  • Certification in ASME Y14 or practical GD&T experience.
  • Self-motivated with problem-solving passion, eager to learn and mentor.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to document, plan, and execute programs.
  • Project management skills.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. Final employment contingent on obtaining necessary authorization for non-U.S. persons.
