Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission is seeking a Laundry/Sewing Room Worker II at Terrell State Hospital. The role focuses on safe, efficient operation of commercial laundry equipment and supervising soil sort and dryer processes to support patient care with reliable, quality linen services.

The position requires lifting up to 50 pounds, adherence to infection control standards, and flexibility to meet agency needs.

Qualifications

• Paid or unpaid laundry or sewing experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Ability to lift 40–50 pounds and operate laundry equipment safely.

Responsibilities

• Attend regular shifts and possible overtime per policy.
• Oversee soil sort and clean processing areas.
• Operate CBW, presses, dryers, and related laundry equipment.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment according to infection control standards.
• Assist with order fulfillment, delivery to units, and training participation.
