Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and two years of experience involving the operation of heavy equipment in a landfill or construction setting.
• Must meet industrial physical examinations including vision, hearing, cardiovascular, pulmonary, and other tests prior to employment.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation principles, safety procedures, and landfill operations.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and maintain safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Operates complex and specialized heavy equipment for safe disposal, compaction, and covering of waste.
• Trains in operating one or more types of motorized heavy equipment used in landfill operations.
• Operates off-road dump trucks and equipment such as compactors to spread and compact waste.
• Operates foam-application machines, bulldozers, track hoes to manage landfill operations.
• Conducts routine equipment inspections and records inspection data.
• Provides guidance and training to coworkers as assigned.
• Ensures compliance with safety requirements and regulatory standards.
