Job summary

Kirby Inland Marine Lp seeks an Inland Deckhand to support the vessel master, handle lines, and assist with the safe operation of our inland pushboat and barges. A minimum of 6 months of experience on an inland pushboat is required; entry level applicants are invited for other roles.

The position includes daily compensation and benefits; typical schedule patterns involve long periods away from home with on-boat duties and training as needed.

Qualifications

• Basic computer skills knowledge required.
• 12 months of consecutive work experience preferred.
• 6 months minimum experience on an inland pushboat required.
• High School or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Attach and remove line and cables to and from the vessel, barges, docks and locks.
• Handle lines 4 to 8 times during loading and discharging to adjust for height changes.
• Maintain vessel by performing routine maintenance and housekeeping.
• Make minor repairs using basic hand tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the vessel master.
