Job summary

Inotiv, Inc. is seeking a Formulation Tech in Gaithersburg, MD. The role requires a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Biology or related field plus 12 months of related experience, including at least 6 months in a regulated industry.

The candidate will document raw data (RON, MON, and other properties) and work with technicians to remediate fuel quality issues, perform dilutions, distillations, and ethanol content testing. Safety data sheets must be reviewed and environmental controls followed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field with 12 months related chemistry or pharmacy experience.
• Experience in a regulated industry such as pharmaceutical or agricultural research.
• Ability to perform analytical tests and document raw data per SOPs.
• Familiarity with hazardous materials handling and safety data sheets.

Responsibilities

• Document raw data such as RON, MON, [R + M)/2], and boiling points for review by Standards Division.
• Provide guidance on remediating fuel quality problems and cross-contamination remediation.
• Weigh, measure and perform dilutions based on calculations.
• Perform fuel distillation (ASTM 86) to determine volatility and check contamination.
• Perform flash point testing (ASTM D56) to check cross-contamination in fuels.
• Test ethanol content in gasoline and flex fuels following SOPs.
• Review SDS and follow environmental controls and PPE per SOPs.
