Job summary

Honeywell Technologies is seeking an Advanced Field Service Engineer to provide expert service and support for HVAC control systems and BAS from our Connecticut office on a hybrid schedule serving the surrounding region, including Greater Boston.

You will diagnose complex HVAC control issues, program Honeywell platforms like Spyder, WEBs, EBI, and Niagara-based systems, and mentor junior technicians to ensure quality, safety and compliance across projects.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in HVAC controls and BAS.
  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC systems, controls and BAS technologies.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting complex HVAC control issues.
  • Experience with programming and configuring HVAC control systems.
  • Niagara (Niagara 4) Certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
  • Advanced knowledge of Honeywell BAS platforms (Spyder, WEBs, EBI).
  • Strong troubleshooting across HVAC controls, DDC systems, and open protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
  • Excellent customer communication and technical documentation skills.
  • Commitment to Honeywell safety standards and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Lead onsite installation, commissioning, and service of BAS and HVAC systems.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve legacy and current BAS controllers and related networks.
  • Mentor junior technicians and subcontractors to ensure quality and timely execution.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics of HVAC controls including VAVs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, sensors and networks.
  • Program and configure Honeywell platforms such as Spyder, WEBs, EBI, and Niagara-based systems.
  • Analyze systems, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and verify operation.
  • Interpret control drawings and wiring schematics to validate integration.
  • Coordinate with project managers and customers to resolve issues and meet schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency and building performance.
  • Maintain proper documentation, redlines, service reports and as-built drawings.

Job Description

As an Advanced Field Service Engineer at Honeywell, you will be responsible for providing advanced technical support and service for HVAC control systems and building automation systems (BAS). You will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of our systems, while delivering exceptional service to our customers. You will report directly to our Field Service Supervisor. This position is based out of our Connecticut office and provides support to customers throughout the surrounding region, including the Greater Boston area, on a hybrid work schedule. In this role, you will impact customer satisfaction and operational efficiency by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex HVAC control issues, while also mentoring junior technicians and ensuring adherence to industry standards and Honeywell’s policies and best practices.

Responsibilities
  • Lead onsite installation, commissioning, and service of Honeywell Building Automation Systems (BAS), including DDC controllers, HVAC equipment, and networked control devices.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues involving Honeywell Building Automation System (BAS) legacy controllers as well as current generation controllers, and integrated BAS systems (Tridium Niagara / Honeywell EBI).
  • Serve as the technical lead on projects, providing direction and mentorship to junior technicians and subcontractors to ensure quality and timely execution.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics of HVAC controls systems, including VAVs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, sensors, actuators, and communication networks (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
  • Program, configure, and commission Honeywell platforms such as Spyder, WEBs, EBI, and Niagara-based systems.
  • Perform system analysis, identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and verify proper system operation to ensure reliable building performance.
  • Interpret control drawings, wiring schematics, and sequences of operation to validate system functionality and ensure proper integration.
  • Conduct system startups, point-to-point verification, and functional performance testing to meet project specifications and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate directly with project managers, engineers, customers, and other trades to resolve technical issues and maintain project schedules.
  • Identify system optimization opportunities to improve energy efficiency, reliability, and overall building performance.
  • Ensure accurate documentation, redlines, service reports, and as-built drawings are completed and submitted in accordance with Honeywell standards.
  • Maintain strict adherence to Honeywell safety protocols, quality processes, and customer site compliance requirements.

The annual base salary range for this position is $88,000 - $110,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline.
