Job summary
Florida Department of Health in Highlands County seeks an OPS Environmental Specialist II to perform advanced environmental health inspections and enforcement of codes to protect the public health. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in science required; 30+ credit hours of science coursework may be reviewed and approved.
- Experience with environmental health programs and standards is expected.
- Familiarity with Florida Administrative Codes and State Statutes related to environmental health duties.
Responsibilities
- Perform site evaluations and review plans for onsite sewage treatment and disposal system permits.
- Investigate sanitary nuisance complaints and follow up on corrective actions or legal steps.
- Educate the public and private sector on health regulations and long-range public health matters.
- Confer with engineers, public officials, and community leaders to protect community health.
