Job summary

Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford, CT is hiring for a leadership role within the Compression Systems Engineering group. You will guide a rig development team, mentor peers, and drive project execution across technical domains while coordinating with CIPT and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

Job description

What You Will Do
  • Support a rig development team as tactical and strategic leader to meet task and technical requirements; work closely with team members and authorities on part and rig system development; recommend improvements and identify and address project problems, analyze data gathered, develop solutions and recommendations to solve problems, meet deadlines and optimize performance, with the occasional technical mentoring of an experienced member in the CIPT.
  • Communicate status and technical content to CIPT
  • Perform Control Account Manager duties for task: Track progress, identify and resolve obstacles to minimize disruption to project budget and schedules to ensure smooth project operations. Integrate and manage sourcing activities with procurement, industrial, and manufacturing team members and the internal/external supply chain.
  • Also coordinate timely creation/release of product definition.
  • Lead risk assessments and risk mitigation planning as well as actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement Travel up to 10%
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor of Science in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with 3+ of engineering experience OR Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Demonstrated strong team leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated exceptional customer focus.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, technical writing, and engineering presentations to all levels of management.
  • Aerospace/ jet engine industry experience, previous gas turbine compressor experience and design development experience is highly desirable
  • Experience in a team leader role or similar task leadership position
  • Working proficiency with MS Office, Teamcenter, MS Project, Confluence
  • Experience in Agile Project Management, including Scrum and Kanban.
  • Experience working with Jira software package.
  • Thorough understanding of continuous improvement principles (e.g. Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE), Quality Control Process Charts (QCPC)
  • Proficiency in use of program/project management tools (e.g. Systems Applications and Products (SAP), Earned Value Management System (EVMS), Teamcenter).
  • Demonstration of skills consistent with the Pratt & Whitney Leadership Operating Model.
Compression Systems Engineering (CSE)

Compression Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, development, and in service support of all fans low-pressure and high-pressure compressors for commercial and military engine models. CSE is responsible for the identification and maturation of new technologies for these products. Technical disciplines in CSE include Project Engineering, Mechanical Design, Structural Analysis, and Product Definition.

The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.
