Job summary

Kulicke & Soffa seeks an experienced mechanical design engineer to join a multi-site team developing and sustaining semiconductor assembly equipment. The successful candidate will design, document and test mechanical subsystems that form part of a high‑performance semiconductor assembly machine under development.

The role requires hands‑on analysis of thermal, fluid, motion, vibration and pneumatic systems, plus testing, reporting and prototype evaluation against product requirements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of precision mechanical engineering design or related experience.
• Capable of using 3D CAD solid modeling tools (NX or ProEngineer), FEA (Nastran or equivalent).
• Ability to perform analysis related to thermal, fluid, motion, vibration, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform testing, write reports, and evaluate prototype designs against product requirements.
• Ability to interpret requirements and design tooling according to customer’s specifications.
• Ability to perform machine trouble shooting and testing.
• Knowledge of materials and production methods.
• Knowledge of GD&T and mechanical engineering standards.
• Ability to perform detailed analysis related to motion systems and mechanism designs.

Job description

The candidate will be a member of a multi-site K&S team that develops and sustains semiconductor assembly equipment. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the design, development, documentation and testing of mechanical subsystems that is part of a high-performance semiconductor assembly machine under development.

Knowledge & Experience requirements

• Minimum 2 years of precision mechanical engineering design or related experience
• Capable of using 3D CAD solid modeling tools (such as NX or ProEngineer), Finite Element Modeling (Nastran or equivalent), and MS Office tools.
• Ability to perform analysis related to thermal, fluid, motion, vibration, and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to perform testing, write reports, and evaluate prototype designs against product requirements.
• Ability to interpret requirements and Design tooling according to customer’s specifications and requirements
• Ability to perform machine trouble shooting and testing
• Knowledge of materials and production methods.
• Knowledge of low volume manufacturing methods and mechanical engineering standards including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance).
• Ability to perform detailed analysis related to motion systems and mechanism designs.

Education Requirements

• Minimum a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or robotics engineering
