Digestive Health Institute is a fast-paced, growing specialty that offers a collaborative environment. As a nurse in our Motility Procedural Center, you will perform procedures such as non-sedated esophageal manometry, anorectal manometry, pH impedance testing, and biofeedback therapy. On-the-job training will be provided, and specific competencies will be developed to ensure confidence in each procedure. You will be supported by a dynamic team focused on your success.

Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:30 AM - 6:00 PM

Endoscopy scope reprocessing experience preferred

Position Summary

Provides support to attending physicians and team members by performing tasks that contribute to quality care for patients undergoing complex procedures.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Assist the endoscopist during complex procedures such as ERCP, EUS, Mucosal Resection, Submucosal Dissection, Hemostasis, and Third Space Endoscopy.
  • Set up cautery and other equipment for procedures.
  • Mix agents like saline, dye, and cyanoacrylate accurately for procedures.
  • Assist with long-wire exchanges during ERCP and be familiar with accessories and emergency protocols.
  • Provide endoscopic support during emergencies in OR, ICU, and ER settings.
  • Operate AV equipment for recording procedures for teaching purposes.
  • Assist in research and development of new products, and teach other professionals about advanced endoscopic procedures.
  • Be available for emergency call coverage after hours and on weekends.
  • Label and send specimens for analysis according to policy.
  • Communicate patient status, equipment issues, or concerns to relevant staff.
  • Prepare procedural suites and transport items and medications throughout the facility.
  • Provide direct patient care, including nourishment, toileting, IV discontinuation, and vital signs, under nurse supervision.
  • Maintain, clean, and store endoscopic equipment as per policy.
  • Ensure timely availability of equipment and supplies for procedures.
  • Process pathology specimens following protocols.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and decontamination of endoscopes and diagnostic equipment.
  • Assist with research procedures.
  • Identify changes in patient data and notify nurses accordingly.
  • Maintain aseptic techniques and regular attendance in compliance with policies.
Other Related Functions
  • Maintain inventory of supplies.
  • Assist with intraprocedural interventions like FNA, guidewire exchanges, glue injections, and stent deployment.
  • Operate AV equipment for recording and be familiar with fluoroscopy setup during emergencies.
