Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• National and/or State EMT-Intermediate certification required.
• Current CPR certification per American Heart Association.
• Valid state driver's license (as required by state).
• Ability to read, write and communicate professionally with staff.
• Knowledge of protocols, procedures and safety policies.

Responsibilities

• Examine patient for signs of illness/injury and assist medical personnel.
• Provide basic life support before and during transport.
• Safely handle and transport patient to the medical facility.
• Document patient condition and treatment on EMS run reports.
• Maintain and test equipment; ensure ambulance is ready for service.
• Carry out assigned duties to keep ambulance and station ready.
• Operate ambulance safely and in accordance with driving guidelines.
• Preceptor responsibilities if assigned; mentor EMT-Basic students.
