Job summary

Med Center Health is seeking a Kentucky Advanced Emergency Medical Technician to perform and assist with assessment, management, and transport of ill or injured persons under medical control.

The role requires high school graduate or equivalent and adherence to state licensing, certification, and driving requirements. Prior pre-hospital or clinical patient care experience is preferred, with duties including BLS, trauma care, documentation, and vehicle operation.

Qualifications

  • Previous pre-hospital or clinical patient care experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assessment of patient(s) to determine appropriate level of care needed. Initiates proper course of action (i.e. ALS response, rapid transport, assist with self-administered medications, etc.).
  • Provides Basic Life Support in critical situations by establishing and maintaining patient airway, using appropriate adjuncts, providing ventilatory assistance, performing CPR and/or utilizing AED, as indicated by local/national standards.
  • Performs trauma care (bleeding control, splinting, immobilization) as appropriate.
  • Uses, cleans and replenishes patient care supplies and equipment according to department and corporate guidelines.
  • Adheres to infection control and PPE guidelines.
  • Operates company vehicle; adheres to driving laws; conducts maintenance checks and reports issues.
  • Maintains proof of certifications/licenses; attends required in-service/training.
  • Documents patient demographic data, assessment findings, treatment and procedures on patient care reports.
  • Documents demographic data, insurance information; obtains signatures for billing.
  • Maintains department buildings, vehicles and equipment as guided.
  • Performs additional duties to help department objectives.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent

Minimum Qualifications
Work Experience

Previous pre-hospital or clinical patient care experience is preferred.

Education

High school graduate or equivalent preferred.

Certifications/Licensure

Kentucky Advanced Emergency Medical Technician; Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certification, as required by Kentucky Board of EMS.

Valid driver’s license required.

Motor vehicle record check required and will be performed annually.

  • Adheres to department and corporate guidelines regarding infection control and personal protective equipment.
  • Operates company vehicle. Adheres to driving laws and regulations and assures safe operation of vehicle. Conducts general maintenance checks on company vehicle. Reports maintenance issues. Maintains record of maintenance checks.
  • Maintains current proof of certifications/license on file in department files. Reliably attends department and corporate required in-service/training.
  • Documents patient demographic data, assessment findings, treatment and procedures performed and other pertinent information on patient care report.
  • Documents demographic data, insurance information; obtains signatures as required for billing purposes.
  • Maintains department buildings, vehicles and equipment according to department guidelines.
  • Helps accomplish department objectives by performing additional duties (i.e. assist with department projects, working additional shifts, etc.) as assigned
