Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking an Embryologist II to perform advanced embryo handling, micromanipulation and embryo culture within our IVF program. The role requires thorough knowledge of assisted reproduction and precise laboratory techniques.

You will perform oocyte insemination, embryo culture, and cryopreservation, while communicating findings to clinicians. This position includes after-hours and weekend work as needed in a high-complexity lab setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in biological or chemical sciences or equivalent
• 3–5 years’ experience in a relevant role
• Experience in advanced micromanipulation, tissue culture, sterile techniques and egg iteration

Responsibilities

• Performs advanced micromanipulation of embryos and oocytes including embryo biopsy and ICSI
• Performs laboratory assignments correctly and reliably, including routine procedures and quality control tests
• Contribute to patient management by communicating laboratory findings and interpretations with physicians, nurses and patients
• Assist laboratory director in maintaining and updating laboratory supplies and equipment
• Assist laboratory director in data collection and analysis
• Assist laboratory director in laboratory preparedness for CAP
• Participate in continuing education activities
• Participate in continuing quality improvement programs of the foundation and laboratory
• Trains new staff as requested
