Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI)

Join to apply for the Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist (MRI) role at VA Detroit.

This is an OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT and will remain open until September 2, 2025. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications is June 16, 2025, with subsequent cut-off dates on the 1st and 15th of each month.

Major Duties include but are not limited to:

• Following MRI safety precautions using designated zones to protect patients, visitors, and staff.
• Performing quality management/quality assurance on MRI equipment and non-imaging equipment.
• Identifying equipment problems, initiating work orders, and reporting unsafe or failing equipment.
• Training MRI students on safety, positioning, protocol building, and image acquisition.
• Providing clinical instruction and evaluating students during MRI procedures.
• Performing secondary functions as a DRT (X-ray Technologist) during emergencies.
• Operating specialized MRI ancillary equipment and recognizing physiologic changes during procedures.
• Completing mandatory continuing education.

Work Schedule: Varies based on service needs. No telework or virtual options available.

Requirements: U.S. Citizenship, certification in radiologic technology (ARRT), education from an accredited program, English proficiency, background check, and physical evaluation.

Qualifications: GS-10 level with at least one year of relevant experience, demonstrating complex modality skills, and knowledge of radiation safety, physics, and patient positioning.

Preferred Experience: Knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, proficiency in MRI procedures, patient communication skills, and ability to work independently.

Physical Demands: Moderate physical effort, including lifting up to 40 pounds and assisting with patient transfers.

Education: Must submit transcripts if using education to qualify. Degrees from accredited institutions only.
