Job description

Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist - MRI

Join to apply for the Advanced Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist - MRI role at VA Detroit.

This position is assigned to the Cape Girardeau VA Healthcare Center Radiology Department, within the General Radiography and MRI section.

Responsibilities
  • Perform general radiographs and MRI procedures independently, including Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) of the head, neck, spine, chest, body, and extremities.
  • Use IV and oral contrast materials as needed to provide diagnostic studies.
  • Apply knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, 3-D reconstruction scans, and peripheral vascular examinations to ensure high-quality imaging.
  • Maintain advanced ARRT certification in MRI.
  • Operate imaging equipment to produce diagnostic quality images while minimizing radiation exposure.
  • Follow radiation safety policies, including the use of protective gear and monitoring devices.
  • Review radiology requests for accuracy and appropriateness, and ensure proper documentation in CPRS.
  • Perform general radiology studies of the skeletal system as required.
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Telework is not available. This is not a virtual position.

Requirements
  • U.S. Citizen
  • ARRT certification in radiologic technology and advanced certification in MRI
  • Completion of a 24-month accredited radiologic technology program
  • Proficiency in English
  • Subject to background/security investigation, drug screening, and pre-employment physical
Qualifications

At least one year of experience at the GS-9 level or equivalent, demonstrating clinical competencies. Must have experience with complex MRI procedures and knowledge of radiation safety and anatomy.
