Job summary

Southside Community Health Services (SCHS) in Minneapolis seeks an Advanced Dental Therapist (ADT) to provide preventive and therapeutic oral health services within the ADT scope of practice. You will work in a collaborative, patient-centered team to deliver high-quality care and reduce barriers to oral health for the community.

The role requires CODA-approved dental therapy training, an active Minnesota license, CPR, and ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Must have graduated from a dental therapy education program approved by the Board of Dentistry or CODA.
• Advanced Dental Therapy certificate is required.
• Valid and active Minnesota license is required.
• Current CPR certification is required.
• Licenses and certifications must be in good standing.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality oral health care within the scope of practice and SCHS policies.
• Deliver patient-centered, integrated care through interprofessional collaboration.
• Maintain clinical documentation, coding, EHR tasks, and other admin duties accurately.
• Support daily work, training, and development of the oral health team.
• Maintain licensure, certification, credentialing, continuing education requirements.
• Participate in peer review, quality improvement, risk management, and team meetings.

About the Role

The Advanced Dental Therapist prevents and maintains oral health of the community through a collaborative and patient-centered team-approach to healthcare. This role exists to provide dental services to patients within the Advanced Dental Therapist scope of Practice.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality oral health care within the scope of practice and in accordance with clinical standards, best practices, and SCHS policies and procedures.
• Deliver patient-centered, integrated care through interprofessional collaboration and a commitment to reducing barriers to oral health services.
• Maintain assigned patient-care expectations and complete clinical documentation, coding, EHR tasks, and other administrative responsibilities accurately and timely.
• Support the daily work, training, and development of oral health team members.
• Maintain required licensure, certification, credentialing, continuing education, and Collaborative Management Agreement requirements.
• Participate in peer review, quality improvement, risk management, staff meetings, and other organizational activities as appropriate.
• Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, sound judgment, and adherence to SCHS clinical and operational standards.
• Perform other duties consistent with the role and scope of practice as assigned.

Experience and Requirements:

• Dental Therapist must have graduated from a dental therapy education program approved by the Board of Dentistry or accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA)
• Advanced Dental Therapy certificate required.
• Valid and active Minnesota license required.
• Current CPR certification.
• Licenses and certifications in good standing.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; not required.

Position Details and Benefits

This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), salary, exempt position with pay starting at $124,800/annually. This position is ELIGIBLE FOR STUDENT LOAN FORGIVENESS

This position operates in a professional dental clinic environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment.

• Ability to perform clinical and administrative duties that may require extended periods of sitting or standing and movement throughout the clinic.
• Ability to use standard office equipment and oral health instruments and equipment necessary for patient care.
• Ability to communicate effectively and observe and interpret clinical information and patient cues necessary to provide safe and effective care.
• Ability to occasionally position oneself, move supplies or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, and assist patients with positioning or mobility as needed.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) based on assigned duties and applicable safety standards.
• This is an on-site, patient-facing position requiring regular and reliable attendance and the ability to maintain assigned patient schedules and clinical coverage.
