Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in IT, Engineering, Business, English or related; 4+ years of work experience preferred.
  • Advanced degree or professional certification preferred.
  • 7+ years of direct related experience if no degree.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; ability to guide decisions or consensus.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple tasks.

Compliance Specialist/Advance Compliance Specialist/Senior Compliance Specialist - Asset Policy & Reporting

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. This position reports to the Manager, Asset Management Support and supports the development, maintenance, and monitoring of AMRC in alignment with FirstEnergy and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP policies and procedures.

This role can be located at FirstEnergy locations with preference Akron, OH, Holland, OH. Greensburg, PA, Reading, PA, Fairmont, WV.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and update AMRC processes and procedures, including the administration of compliance policies, programs, and procedures related to North American Reliability Corporation (NERC) CIP and PRC Reliability Standards.
  • Ability to perform in-depth reviews of business unit processes, procedures, and related controls to determine the effectiveness of reliability standards adherence and compliance practices.
  • Authoring and revising operating procedures, reference documents, desk guides, and associated documents.
  • Coordinate the security, facilitation, review, and approval of the Transmission Outlook Report.
  • Collaborating with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) from each relevant department to obtain necessary information and ensure accurate documentation of processes and procedures.
  • Managing document content and maintaining a controlled document repository.
  • Demonstrating professional demeanor and excellent customer service skills in collaborating with customers/stakeholders to answer questions and concerns about documents produced and resolve differences in professional opinion.
  • Working on other specialized projects as needed and presenting to various levels of management.
  • Identifying internal process enhancements and striving toward increasing efficiency.
  • Estimating project timelines and tracking project tasks to meet customer/stakeholder needs.
  • Review and interpret requirements from regulatory entities, including state commissions and the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC).
  • Assess compliance with state and federal regulatory commitments by supporting regulatory reporting against applicable policies and standards.
  • Support Asset Management and Operational Excellence business plans and initiatives, as required.
  • Have a working knowledge of work management processes of related systems in CASCADE, PowerPlan, EDOA, FileNet (Content Navigator), and SAP. Additional training in these systems will be trained as needed.
  • Lead and participate in weekly CIP Medium Impact and Low Impact Change Control meetings to ensure all cyber assets changes are noted so documentation can be updated appropriately.
  • Maintain systems to track/ monitor compliance with the NERC reliability standards.
  • Supporting the Emergency Plan through participating in the assigned storm duties including hazard response and hazard dispatch activities as needed, including off‑hours, weekends, and holidays.
  • Travel may be required at times across the FirstEnergy system.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, English, Communications, or related discipline with a minimum 4+ years' professional work experience is preferred. An advanced degree or professional certification is preferred.In lieu of a degree, 7 years of direct, related industry experience will be considered.
  • Related experience includes writing operating procedures, instruction manuals, technical descriptors, and reports in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrate strong verbal communication skills to effectively collaborate with customers and stakeholders and guide decision-making or consensus.
  • Ability to manage, organize and prioritize work, while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • Independently drive assignments and document creations/revisions to completion to meetestablished deadlines.
  • Ability to complete typical assignments with minimal assistance or direction.

The estimated pay range for this role is $68,425-$133,800.

The pay range for certain locations, including the state of New Jersey, include a 20% differential to account for an increased cost of living, making the pay range $82,110-160,560.
