Job summary

Illinois State Credit Union is seeking an Advanced Collections Specialist to lead complex delinquency efforts on consumer and real estate loan portfolios. The role requires coordination with legal, collections attorneys, and third-party vendors to balance recovery with member service.

The position mentors staff, analyzes delinquency trends, and supports compliance with federal and state regulations while driving process improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualifications include prior collections experience and knowledge of consumer lending and collection practices.
• Ability to interpret and apply applicable laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies.
• Experience with bankruptcies, repossessions, legal collections, and workout solutions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages an assigned portfolio of complex delinquent consumer and real estate loan accounts.
• Contacts members by telephone, email, mail, text, and other approved methods to resolve delinquent accounts.
• Investigates account history, payment activity, collateral, credit information, and financial circumstances to determine collection strategies.
• Maintains knowledge of collection laws, regulations, and Credit Union policies.
• Educates members regarding Credit Union products and services to support financial well-being.
• Negotiates and recommends loan modifications, payment deferments, settlements, and other workout solutions.
