Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Dental Hygienist (Advanced Clinical) for the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System. Positions are in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, LA, providing direct patient care under general supervision with opportunity for advanced practice.

GS-10 level responsibilities include complex periodontal assessment, radiographs, treatment planning, and collaborative care with dentists and specialists. Licensure in good standing is required.

Qualifications

• Must possess an Associate degree or higher from an accredited dental hygiene program.
• Must be currently licensed with a full, unrestricted license in the United States.
• Education from CODA-accredited programs; NBDE eligibility.
• Must meet radiologic credentialing standards as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a dentist or periodontist.
• Perform advanced periodontal assessment, charting, and treatment planning.
• Interpret radiographs and apply radiographic findings to care.
• Educate patients on oral health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
• Collaborate with other dental team members to coordinate care.
