Job summary

Keck Medicine of USC is seeking a Surgical Tech II under general guidance of the Registered Nurse to assist the surgical team in the operating room, preparing/sterilizing equipment and ensuring patient safety throughout procedures. The Tech II provides intermediate to advanced support across diverse surgeries and upholds aseptic standards.

The position requires completion of a CAAHEP-accredited Surgical Technician Program, one year of experience, and active CST certification.

Qualifications

• Requires High School or equivalent
• Completion of a CAAHEP accredited Surgical Technician Program is required
• One-year experience in a Surgical Technician role required
• Active practice as a Surgical Technician within the six (6) months prior to application

Responsibilities

• Assists the surgical team in the OR and prepares, sterilizes, and cleans surgical equipment and instruments
• Maintains aseptic technique and ensures patient safety throughout procedures
• Transports patients, equipment, and specimens as needed
• Assists in the preoperative setup and post-operative cleanup and storage of instruments
• Performs scrub role and may mentor or lead other surgical technicians
• Participates in decision-making related to equipment, instruments, and supplies
• Recommends and participates in process improvement projects
