Job summary

San Joaquin General Hospital in California seeks a Biomedical Equipment Technician II to repair, calibrate and maintain a broad range of medical devices. The role involves using diagrams and test tools, participating in safety inspections and contributing to equipment validation prior to procurement.

The technician will implement preventive maintenance, modify devices as needed, and may train junior technicians.

Qualifications

• 60 semester units in electronics or a related area or completion of an advanced military electronics school.
• One year of experience in repair, maintenance or modification of medical equipment.
• Substitution: additional qualifying experience may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Repairs and adjusts a variety of complex medical equipment using schematics and test instruments.
• Develops and implements preventative maintenance programs for medical equipment.
• Assists in testing and evaluating equipment prior to purchase.
• Modifies or fabricates equipment to meet new specifications.
• May train other technicians and review work of junior staff.
