Responsibilities
  • Demonstrated ability in effectively troubleshooting and repairing of a wide variety of biomedical equipment systems.
  • Considerable knowledge of electrical safety and medical safety principles.
  • Ability in the interpretation and applicable of hospital codes, standards, and regulations relating to biomedical equipment in hospital environment
  • Demonstrable advanced skill in applying electronic circuit theory and operating principles to effectively diagnose biomedical equipment malfunctions.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and proficiency in the use of advanced electronic test and measurement instrumentation.
  • Knowledge of the theories of operation, the underlying physiologic principles, and the practical, safe clinical application of biomedical equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic computer theory and skill in effectively using computer systems and applications.
  • Skill in the use of tools and materials involved in the repair and maintenance of biomedical equipment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the practices, procedures, methods, tools, materials, and instrumentation associated with advanced biomedical equipment areas.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Qualifications
  • Associate or Bachelors degree in biomedical electronics or related, or a combination of relevant training and experience.
  • Minimum of two years work experience as a BMET, with manifest advanced skills and abilities for specific equipment areas.
  • Certification by the International Certification Commission for Clinical Engineering and Biomedical Equipment Technicians ().
