Job summary

The Florida Department of Transportation seeks an Automotive Equipment Mechanic II at the South Dade Shop in Miami, FL. You will diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace gasoline or diesel engines, transmissions, clutches, brakes, electrical systems and other major components in automobiles and heavy equipment.

You will perform field tests, tire services, preventative maintenance, and respond to emergency road service calls.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and two years of vehicle/heavy equipment repair experience.
• CDL Class B with air brakes required within 10 months of appointment? (per requirements)

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, overhaul and replace engines, transmissions, clutches and brakes.
• Perform field tests on vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Conduct preventative maintenance and tire service.
• Respond to emergency road service calls and perform minor welding, body repairs.
• Ensure compliance with waste handling and disposal policies.
