Advanced ASIC FPGA Engineer for Crypto and Cross Domain Solutions

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required at time of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for an Advanced ASIC FPGA Engineer located in Scottsdale, AZ.

Duties and Tasks:

  • Responsible for definition, design, verification, and documentation for ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuit) and/or FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) developments.
  • Determine architecture, system simulation, and detailed design approach.
  • Define module interfaces and all aspects of device design and simulation.
  • Evaluate the process flow including high-level design, synthesis, place and route, timing, and power utilization.
  • Create test and simulation plans that establish functional criteria.
  • Verify test results and analyze performance.
  • Review vendor capabilities, foundry technologies, device libraries, and simulation tools.
  • Participate in improving ASIC/FPGA organizational processes.
  • Support the generation of technical engineering products using appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Research and analyze customer design proposals and manuals to determine feasibility.
  • Select components and equipment based on specifications and reliability.
  • Provide leadership and/or direction to lower-level employees.
  • Determine approaches to solutions independently.
  • Contribute to major programs and projects, planning and executing related tasks.

  • Proficient in ASIC/FPGA engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
  • Proficient in ASIC/FPGA design principles and techniques.
  • Understanding of ASIC/FPGA processes.
  • Knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Stay updated on technology trends.
  • Awareness of business objectives and engineering's role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and ASIC/FPGA design tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to recognize and report relevant information for ASIC/FPGA design.
  • Ability to develop and promote concepts and ideas.
  • Experience designing high-speed interfaces and complex memory designs.

  • Skills in requirements capture, RTL design (VHDL or Verilog), simulation, synthesis, place and route, timing closure, device programming, and lab debugging.

Target salary range: USD $132,077.00/Yr. - USD $146,523.00/Yr. This estimate reflects typical salaries based on experience and location; actual pay may vary. The posting remains open until filled.
