Job Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Manufacturing Engineer shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:
BASIC
- Implement production process with continuous improvement.
- Create documentation for production support and data collection.
- Create and update process control plans and PFMEA’s (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
- Select vendors for equipment and production materials.
- Develop and issue criteria to vendors for supplied items.
- Determine stock items and quantities for equipment spare parts and production materials.
- Define preventative maintenance items and schedules for equipment.
- Support TS16949 Initiatives.
- Stay informed on materials related to company needs through trade publications, papers, seminars, and classes.
- Develop, document, and promote continuous improvement in manufacturing processes, production, and quality.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable local, state, federal laws, statutes, and governmental regulations.
- Manage environmental, health, and safety issues in the manufacturing area.
- Participate in planning personnel safety and protection activities, ensuring compliance with OSHA/IOSHA standards and regulations, and provide necessary training.
CURRENT
- Develop training programs for production team leaders, technicians, and operators.
- Initiate work orders for equipment issues.
- Maintain plant layout using AutoCAD.
- Champion improvements in areas such as:
- Standard work/process flow
- Work Instructions
- BOMs
- Safety
- EC management
- Process updates
- Work cell support (tables, production fixtures, WIP racks, stands, etc.)
- Labor utilization
- First-time quality
- Lean manufacturing
- Manufacturing floor space optimization
