Job summary

New Berlin Park and Recreation Department is seeking a Volleyball Referee to enforce the rules and supervise participants in the program. The referee will make judgment calls during games and record-keeping to report to the Program Specialist.

Responsibilities include gym setup/cleanup, representing the department, enforcing rules, ensuring a safe playing environment, answering questions, and reporting issues to management. Arrive at least 15 minutes before games start.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Knowledge of Volleyball Rules and Scoring.
• Ability to enforce the rules of volleyball.
• Previous coaching or playing volleyball is preferred.
• Able to present a positive image of the department and the City.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all participants.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for program set-up and clean-up of gym on game night.
• Professionally represent the New Berlin Park and Recreation Department.
• Enforce rules and assist in rules clarification.
• Ensures a safe playing environment for participants.
• Observes, enforces and explains all game rules and regulations.
• Answer player questions before and after games
• Reports problems or needs to management.
• Report to work at least 15 minutes prior to volleyball games starting
