The Clinical Dietitian II works independently. This role is responsible for identification of patients at nutritional risk, planning and implementation of medical nutrition therapy for assigned population, determination of nutrition diagnosis, development and implementation of evidence-based nutrition care plans, monitoring and evaluating the patient’s progress, and communicating with the interdisciplinary care team. Also, serves as a resource to Dietitians I. Responsibilities include participating in the development and revision of educational materials; providing recommendations to enhance learning activities and educational resources; performing nutrition focused physical examinations and collaborating with physicians on malnutrition diagnoses; collaborating with the Food Service department to provide nutritionally appropriate menus, food options, and services for patients; providing training to Dietitians I, interns and students on nutrition care strategies and supporting food service staff competency; serving as a preceptor, lecturer, or advisory board member for dietetic internship programs; providing leadership in resolving nutrition care issues, establishing priorities, developing and evaluating programs; serving as a resource to Dietitians I and reviewing their documentation; developing and providing education, training, consulting, and counseling services throughout the organization and for the community; developing presentations and serving as subject matter expert in internal and external education programs and symposiums; participating in performance improvement activities and quality initiatives; assessing patients’ nutritional status and needs; developing and implementing care plans, monitoring patients' progress, and updating interventions; completing thorough and timely documentation of patient sessions in the electronic health record; collaborating with physicians, nursing, pharmacy and other healthcare team members and departments to determine, coordinate, and provide medical nutrition therapy; communicating plans of care with patients and their families. The role requires critical thinking skills, effective communication, decisive judgment, and the ability to build and foster positive relationships. The incumbent must be able to lead others and take appropriate action when required. Education and certification requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Dietetics, Dietitian/Nutritionist License (ND LICENSE) - State of Florida, and Registered Dietitian CDR Certification. One year of experience is required.
