Job summary

Young World Physical Education seeks a dedicated Special Education Aide III for the Adult Transition program. You will support students with disabilities as they transition from high school to post-secondary settings under a certified teacher's supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or two years of college study required.
• Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
• Experience working with children recommended.

Responsibilities

• Assist students with disabilities to become contributing members of the community through employment, education, training, independent life skills, and self-advocacy.
• Assist teacher in routine Adult Transition Program management duties.
• Assist in orienting students to their Adult Transition Program schedule.
• Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and classroom displays.
• Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.
• Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
• Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
• Help the teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
• Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
• Assist with positioning, feeding, bathroom needs, and personal care as needed.
• Supervise students during the day including lunchroom, bus, and playground.
• Attend faculty meetings and events; maintain professional conduct with students and parents.
