Job summary

The City of Hartford is seeking a full-time Adult Services and Connections Specialist at the Jack Russell Memorial Library in Hartford, Wisconsin. You will split time between desk work and community outreach, planning adult programs and supporting residents across the library’s service area.

The role requires independent work, strong technology and communication skills, occasional evening shifts, and travel to off-site events as part of our Connections initiative.

Qualifications

• A Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited institution is preferred or a related bachelor’s degree.
• Two years of public library experience serving adults, or equivalent experience.
• Strong technology, communication, and customer service skills.
• Knowledge of Polaris and supervisory experience are desirable.
• A valid state driver's license, or ability to obtain one within four months.

Responsibilities

• Work library desk shifts and provide in-person assistance to Hartford residents.
• Plan and coordinate adult programs and services.
• Develop library services for senior living facilities, local businesses, festivals, farmers markets and other community events.
• Travel to off-site community events as part of the Connections initiative.

Adult Services and Connections Specialist

Jack Russell Memorial Library - Hartford, Wisconsin

The Jack Russell Memorial Library is seeking a full-time Adult Services and Connections Specialist to join our team! This position combines traditional library service with community outreach. Responsibilities include working library desk shifts, providing in-person assistance to Hartford residents, planning and coordinating adult programs, and developing library services for senior living facilities, local businesses, festivals, farmers markets, and other community organizations and events throughout the library's service area through our Connections initiative.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently and as part of a team, has strong technology skills, social media experience, a solid work ethic, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The Adult Services and Connections Specialist will work throughout the library, including at the circulation desk and in the Youth Services Department, and will serve as a member of the library’s management team. This position requires at least one evening shift per week, rotating weekend hours, and traveling to off-site community events.

Salary and Benefits

The budgeted starting salary for this position is $22.00 per hour. The City of Hartford offers an excellent benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off (PTO), paid holidays, and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System.
