The position will consist of approximately 90% clinical effort and 10% research, administrative, and educational effort.

Clinical Responsibilities (90%)
  • Provide comprehensive clinical care with a primary focus on adult reconstructive urology, including a component of general urologic surgery as needed.

  • Perform high-volume outpatient reconstructive procedures in the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC), including urethroplasty, artificial urinary sphincter placement, male sling procedures, Peyronie's disease repair, prosthetic surgery, and fistula repair.

  • Perform complex open and robotic reconstructive procedures in the main operating room, including bladder augmentation, urinary diversion and revision, ureteral reconstruction, complex urethroplasty, urethrectomy, trauma reconstruction, rectourethral fistula repair, and pelvic exenteration.

  • Evaluate new and established patients in the outpatient clinic, manage perioperative care, perform office-based procedures such as cystoscopy, urodynamics, and injections, and coordinate longitudinal patient follow-up.

  • Participate in the Duke Urology faculty call schedule, including equitable distribution of weekend and holiday coverage as assigned.

  • Serve as a reconstructive urology consultant to other faculty members, providing clinical guidance and support in the management of complex reconstructive and trauma cases.

  • Collaborate with the Urology Clinic Director to optimize the financial and operational performance of the practice.

  • Provide clinical coverage at additional Duke-affiliated sites as services expand, as needed.

  • Perform other clinical responsibilities as assigned by departmental leadership.

Research, Administrative, and Educational Responsibilities (10%)
  • Lead and participate in clinical outcomes research and quality improvement initiatives related to reconstructive urology.

  • Collaborate with faculty on clinical trials and translational research projects.

  • Mentor residents and fellows in clinical research activities and scholarly projects.

  • Participate in divisional and departmental meetings, with an expectation of attending at least 75% of scheduled meetings.

  • Assist with clinical protocol development, workflow optimization, and departmental compliance initiatives.

  • Serve on departmental and institutional committees as assigned.

  • Participate in surgical training and education for the Reconstructive Urology Fellowship and Urology Residency Program.

  • Contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement initiatives within the residency program.

  • Participate in fellow, resident, and medical student education in the clinical, operative, and research settings.

  • Attend at least 75% of Urology educational conferences, including Grand Rounds.

Academic and Professional Development
  • Maintain regular communication with the Reconstructive Urology Division Chief or designee to review clinical and professional development. Meetings will occur twice monthly during the first year and quarterly thereafter.

  • Participate in regular meetings with Urology Vice Chairs and division chiefs, at least twice annually, to discuss practice management, resident education, and research initiatives.

  • Work collaboratively with departmental leadership to support the continued growth and development of the Reconstructive Urology Division.

Qualifications & Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
