The City of Winchester, Virginia Local Government is seeking an Adult Protective Services Specialist within the Department of Social Services to protect adults over 60 and incapacitated adults from abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and to support families. Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field or a Bachelor's Degree in any field with two years related experience in Social Work.
• Within 90 days of employment, you must have a driving commute within a one-hour timeframe of the City of Winchester limits.

Responsibilities

• Assess for adult safety and risk by completing investigations.
• Develop plans to provide the appropriate level of care and maximize self-sufficiency.
• Schedule and attend home visits to ensure the safety of vulnerable adults.
• Assess for service needs, coordinate referrals, and encourage participation in services to foster greater independence and provide support for caregivers.
• Prepare court reports, affidavits and testify in court.
• Complete required documentation in a timely manner, in accordance with state and local policy.
