Job summary

The University of Rochester in Rochester, NY is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. You will assist with instrument prep, maintain sterile technique, and help prepare the room between cases.

This full-time role offers rotating shifts and a 40-hour week with compensation in the range of $29.00 to $39.15 per hour. Applicants must meet NYS requirements to be grandfathered into Public Health Law 2824.

Qualifications

• Must be a Certified Surgical Technician or meet NYS requirements to be grandfathered into Public Health Law 2824.

Responsibilities

• Prepares instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical procedures and assists the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation.
• Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments and facilitating room turnover between cases.
• Maintains sterile technique, safe handling of sharps and performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy.
• Demonstrates proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse.
• Serves as a patient advocate.
• Functions as a preceptor to staff and students orienting to the operating room scrub position.
• Good organizational skills are required.

Job Type: Full Time, 40 Hours per week, Regular Worker. Shift: UR – Rotating. Compensation: $29.00 – $39.15 per hour.

Schedule options: Full‑time or part‑time positions available, D/E/N, 8/10/12 hour shifts, holidays and on call.
