West Linn-Wilsonville School District 3J is seeking a Community Education Chinese (Mandarin) Language Instructor at Willamette Primary School in West Linn, Oregon. The role supports community education through partnerships with Clackamas Community College Community Education and WLWV Family Empowerment Center, with 1.5 hours per week (Thursdays 6-7:30 p.m.) and up to 8 days per season.

Qualifications

• Native Mandarin speaker or fluent in Mandarin.
• Experience teaching Chinese and Chinese culture to non-native speakers.

Responsibilities

• Plan a learning environment for adults (ages 16+) to learn a second language using oral, role play, writing activities and visual/kinesthetic methods.
• Engage participants with cultural connections and embedded vocabulary within conversations.
• Respond to participants’ learning needs and maintain a climate of learning.
• Maintain confidentiality in all interactions and use electronic communication to coordinate with participants and supervisor.
