Job summary

ILSC Education Group is seeking a Substitute Instructor in La Verne, CA to plan, teach and evaluate assigned classes in alignment with the ELS curriculum for adult learners. The role supports the Academic Director and senior staff, maintains records, and fulfills administrative duties as needed.

The Substitute Instructor may cover emergency shifts for less than a full day and participates in professional development activities. Strong ESL background and classroom tech comfort are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in English or related field.
• At least 6 months of ELS teaching experience if no MA in TESOL or CELTA.
• Proven ability to teach core ESL skills to adult learners.
• Strong classroom management and intercultural communication skills.
• Dependable and available for emergency coverage.
• Collaborative and receptive to feedback/observations.

Responsibilities

• Teach SSP (Structure/Speaking Practice), Vocabulary Enrichment, Reading/Writing, LTC and/or SECs as assigned.
• Prepare lesson plans, exercises and tests.
• Test, evaluate and counsel students on performance.
• Maintain a conducive learning environment.
• Coordinate instruction, attendance and evaluation with other teachers.
• Adhere to Center and Company policy and procedures; communicate local policy to Associates.
