Provide curriculum and instruction for adult ESL Beginning Literacy class, 2-3 mornings a week from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The first day of work is August 4, with instruction beginning the week of August 18. Students are learning basic English vocabulary and phrases, such as greetings and days of the week, as well as recognizing letters and sounds. Instruction must include repetition and oral practice, using short dialog frames, repeating after the teacher, pair or group practice, and activities like tea parties. The teacher must create a welcoming, safe, and accessible learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of formal education, encouraging learning and mistakes.
