Job summary

The State of Ohio Rehabilitation and Correction is seeking an Education professional for the Chillicothe Correctional Institution. This role focuses on teaching and developing inmates through GED/ABE programs and individualized lesson plans.

You will administer tests, track progress, maintain orderly instructional spaces, and coordinate with education staff. A Baccalaureate degree and applicable teaching permit eligibility are required, with preference for correctional education experience.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate degree and eligible for an Adult Educator permit from the Ohio Department of Education.
• Current Teacher Certificate appropriate grade level to be assigned (Teacher 1, 71721) with a valid degree or equivalent.
• Experience or qualifications aligned with education and instruction in correctional settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develops lesson plans to address inmate education needs and individual training requirements.
• Provides instruction for Adult Basic Education/General Education Development programs.
• Administers tests and evaluates inmates; provides guidance and direction.
• Maintains discipline and security of instructional areas; attends meetings and trainings.
• Prepares records/reports and manages inventory and materials for education programs.
