Job summary

GEO Corrections & Detentions is seeking an Academic Instructor to lead Adult Basic Education, English Language Development, and GED preparation in our facilities. You will teach reading, mathematics, and language arts, fostering a positive learning environment for inmates.

The role requires a bachelor's degree, Florida educator certification eligibility, and teaching experience; veterans may qualify for a temporary license. We provide growth opportunities and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
• Eligible for State of Florida Educator's certificate; non-certified applicants must obtain within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
• Veterans/spouses: may apply for a Temporary License if service and credits meet criteria.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a classroom environment that facilitates the teaching of Adult Basic Education, English Language Development, and GED subjects.
• Instruct reading, mathematics, and language arts; may include conversational English for students with limited English proficiency.
• Maintain records including testing, attendance, and progress reports; evaluate and document inmate/detainee academic progress.
• Provide individual tutoring and support to students as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
