Description
Summary: The Nursing Assistant, under the clinical guidance of an RN, and administrative supervision of the Senior Program Coordinator, seeks to provide the most appropriate health care supports to Individuals in the Day Program; encompassing medical concerns and documentation of health-related issues.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Provide observation, monitoring, and documentation of all presenting health care needs for the Individuals we serve.
- Administer medications as necessary, following AMAP protocols.
- Ensure appropriate medications and medical supplies are on hand and that they are organized and stored appropriately.
- Ensure accurate records of medication administration, including time, dosage, route, and any observed reactions or side effects are maintained per regulation.
- Provide information to Individuals about their medications, including dosage instructions, potential side effects, and the importance of adherence to the prescribed regimen.
- Review and ensure health care plans (medical protocols) or PONS (Plan of Nursing Services) are up to date.
- Conduct observations to ensure proper programming and implementation of medical-related supports are followed.
- Facilitate medical information in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
- Review all Direct Support Professional (DSP) nursing data collection.
- Review AMAP certifications with RN and review and observe adherence to AMAP protocols in order to assist RN with evaluation of AMAP performance.
- Assist RN to Coordinate schedules and resources needed to accomplish daily tasks including, AMAP schedules, meetings, and documentation review schedules.
- Review APE's (Adaptive Physical Education) Tracker and Adaptive Equipment and Diet Orders with RN.
- Assist RN with Nursing/Medical training schematics.
- Support and triage emergency needs.
- Mandatory attendance at required in-service training, along with ability to absorb and demonstrate compliance with all regulations and Block Institute policy and procedure requirements is required for this position.
- All Block Employees will be required to learn and master the use of any and all software systems and technology utilized by the Agency, on a Program by Program basis
- Attendance/Punctuality: is consistently at work and on time. Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent. Participates in team meetings and case reviews as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of OPWDD Experience
- AMAP, SCIP and CPR Certified
- Valid Driver's License
- High School Diploma/GED
