Brightspire is looking for an Adult Day Care Activities Assistant who will help participants with daily living activities and manage program activities. Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates must possess an NC CNA Certification.
  • Effective communication skills with participants and staff are essential.
  • Experience in caring for frail/impaired adults is preferred.

The Adult Day Care Activities Assistant will provide assistance with participants activities of daily living including but not limited to, toileting assistance, feeding assistance, showering/dressing, one person transfers, and general hygiene. As well as:

  • Establishes program goals, objectives, and priorities to ensure an entertaining, intellectual, spiritual, physical and sensory stimulating environment to enhance and increase level of functioning of residents.
  • Evaluates program activities regularly to ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, rules and regulations.
  • Coordinates with all other units and/or departments to integrate program activities.
  • Regularly assesses needs and recommends program changes and/or development.
  • Assists in programming a weekly activity calendar that includes opportunities for participation in a variety of activities.
  • Ability to implement and carry out a variety of activities that include baking, arts and crafts, gardening, mentally oriented discussion, sensory activities and more.
  • Assist participants with activities of daily living including but not limited to, toileting assistance, feeding assistance, one person transfers, and general hygiene.
  • Communicate with Healthcare Coordinator and Program Director regarding any changes in participant functions and ability level
  • Attends professional conferences and continuing education programs. Complete all in-service training and assignments as offered in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Current NC CNA Certification required
  • Able to speak and understand English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with participants, families and staff.
  • High school graduate degree preferred and a minimum of one year of related experience in caring for frail/impaired adults
  • Must have outgoing personality with leadership skills and ability to hold attention of a group
  • Must possess an understanding of the social, psychological and recreational needs of the aging, and the patience and ability to work under pressure.

  • Must be willing to work on small, close team of employees
  • Evidence of a negative TB skin test within the past 12 months
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification
  • Genuine interest in working with older adults
