Job summary

Catholic Community Services in Tacoma, WA seeks an Activities Assistant to support daily living activities and lead group and independent recreation for Nativity House clients. You will promote dignity, inclusion, and client-informed programming within a strengths-based framework.

Responsibilities include safety assessments, documentation, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure flexible, person-centered services that respect cultural backgrounds and individual care plans.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Must hold CNA / NAC / HCA certification or equivalent.
• Annual certification renewals per WA state law.
• Two years' experience with vulnerable populations.
• Food Handlers Card within 2 weeks of employment.
• First Aid and CPR certification within 2 weeks of employment.
• Proof of negative TB test within past 12 months.
• Successful background checks before offer.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with mobility, transportation, and ADLs during programming with dignity.
• Conduct ongoing safety assessments and respond to concerns using de-escalation.
• Monitor moods and safety; document changes in logs and reports.
• Maintain and organize the activity space, supplies, and records.
• Provide client-informed activity delivery and support autonomy.
