Job summary

East Valley Institute of Technology (EVIT) is seeking an Adult Basic Education Tutor to teach English, Mathematics, Science and History to adult learners in a flexible setting, including classroom, study room, library, online or hybrid formats.

This part-time role supports the main Mesa campus 1601 West Main Street with midday and evening shifts (2 positions). Compensation is $23.00 per hour under a grant funded program, with a student-centered approach to build skills and confidence.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Identity Prints IVP Level 1 fingerprint card must be obtained prior to start date.
• Proof of immunization against or immunity to measles and rubella if born after January 1, 1957.

Applications are being accepted for the position of Adult Basic Education Tutor at our 1601 West Main Street campus in Mesa, AZ 85201. There are 2 part-time positions available: M-F 12:00 - 2:00 PM and M-TH 6:00 - 8:30 PM

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Adult Basic Education Tutor will help teach academic subjects such as: English, Mathematics, Science, and History to adult age students. The Adult Basic Education Tutor will meet regularly with students who need help academically and help the students improve their: study skills, organizational skills, test taking skills, note taking skills and time management skills. This position may teach in a classroom setting, study room, library, online or a hybrid setting. The ultimate goal of the tutor is to help improve the students improve their academic success and help them reach their full potential.

Job Type

Part Time. This is a grant funded position.

Salary

$23.00 per hour

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma Education or equivalent.
• Strong passion for helping others.

Preferred Experience

• Experience tutoring/mentoring adults who are academically challenged and/or at-risk learners.
