Job summary

Sylvania in Morris, MN seeks a paraprofessional to provide math and reading intervention support for adult students. The role reinforces classroom lessons and assists teachers, including prep work, assessments, and data collection.

The substitute position runs Wednesdays evenings, with long-term coverage through Dec 16, 2026 and potential through May 19, 2027. Bilingual skills preferred; compensation is hourly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; minimal experience with adult students preferred but not required.
• Two years of college credits through an accredited institution or an associate's or higher degree.
• Passing score on a valid assessment demonstrating knowledge to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing, mathematics or readiness.

Hours: Wednesdays, 5:00-8:00 pm (3 hrs.)
Long term sub position is expected through Dec. 16th, 2026 w/ possibility through May 19th, 2027.

General Definition of Work

Performs intermediate human support work providing math and reading intervention support, supervising adult students in the classroom. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the coordinator/administrator.

Essential Functions

Provide math and reading intervention support.

Assist classroom teachers by reinforcing lessons with adult students; explain instructions and assignments while working individually or in small groups.

Prepare lessons and gather materials for small student groups; conduct tests and assessments; collect and maintain data as directed by teachers.

Communicate with teachers regarding instructions and student progress.

Attend meetings and educational trainings.

Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED and minimal experience working withadult studentspreferred but not required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

This position does not require a license, however, some of our paraprofessional positions require candidates to be considered "highly qualified" under the Code of Federal Regulations.

This status requires: 1) At least two years of college credits through an accredited institution of higher education; or 2) An associate's or higher degree; or 3) A passing score on a valid and reliable formal assessment demonstrating the knowledge and ability to assist with instruction in reading/language arts, writing, mathematics or readiness for each.

Bilingual skills preferred

Compensation: $21.70-$22.40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.
