ADON, RN for NHC Fort Oglethorpe

NHC Fort Oglethorpe is seeking an Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) to join our team. The ADON will assist the Director of Nursing in administrative and managerial functions, including care delivery and training within the Nursing Department. The ideal candidate will have patient-focused skilled nursing experience in a leadership role, excellent communication skills, dependability, flexibility, and the ability to lead a team. Prior Long Term Care and management experience, along with a stable work history, are preferred.

Job Knowledge and Capabilities:
  • Maintain clinical competency through nursing knowledge, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Utilize the nursing process for assessment, planning, and care implementation.
  • Organize workflow and prioritize to meet patient care needs.
  • Apply continuous quality improvement and problem-solving skills.
Quality Management:
  • Monitor patient status through daily rounds and other means.
  • Coordinate and participate in Patient Care Plan conferences.
  • Assist in developing rehabilitative nursing programs.
  • Ensure treatments and medications are administered as ordered.
  • Participate in conferences with patients and families.
  • Ensure accurate documentation in medical records.
  • Complete Patient Assessment (MDS) forms timely and accurately.
  • Review MDS reports and take appropriate action.
  • Promote ongoing education and training for nursing staff, including CNA training.
  • Participate actively in the Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Coordinate Level of Care meetings weekly and report findings to physicians.
Operational Management:

General Responsibilities:

  • Be a management team member, fostering effective relationships with leadership.
  • Contribute to center goal development and procedural implementation.
  • Support budget management and cost-effective operations.
  • Participate in staffing, recruitment, training, and evaluation processes.
  • Develop and oversee orientation and partner development programs.
  • Ensure personnel policies are followed and promote a positive work environment.
  • Establish community resource linkages and manage supplies.

Specific Tasks:

  • Develop and maintain nursing philosophy, standards, policies, and job descriptions.
  • Assist in budget development and staffing schedules.
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and training of staff.
  • Coordinate with other departments and participate in leadership meetings.
  • Implement recommendations from consultants as appropriate.
